Fall is just around the corner and it always gets me in the mood to get organized and get in shape. So get your app (pun intended) in gear! What better way to help shake those winter blues than to download some amazing smartphone apps that use innovative technology to help moms focus on
exercise, weight loss and even meditation? I tried out a few and was pretty amazed by how many busy moms could benefit from these handy little tools. They may even help to keep you on track with those
New Year’s resolutions you made in January!
Exercise app
The recently released Nike+
GPS iPhone app maps your runs, tracks your progress and gives you the motivation you need to go even further.
If you need a little extra push to get motivated, Nike+ GPS lets you challenge yourself to take your run to the limit with the Challenge Me feature. Runners can even receive feedback and encouragement from Nike athletes and celebrities.Busy parents on the go need not worry. Regardless of where you prefer to exercise, the app combines GPS and accelerometer technologies so that you can track your run or walk wherever you are – inside or outside. The app’s convenient Sync feature, allows you to save and see your workout directly on your Nikeplus.com profile from your iPhone or
iPod touch. That gives you control and access to your workout progress through multiple workstations and helps keep you informed of your progress and engaged.
The Nike+ GPS App for iPhone will pull in data from the device’s accelerometer and GPS to give runners an effective, accurate and useful tool for getting in shape and staying motivated. So far, it’s available in
English only and sells for $1.99
Calorie Counter app
Calorie Counter by
FatSecret for
iPad is a handy little app to find nutritional info for the food you eat. It also helps you easily keep track of meals, exercise and weight.

The app provides the ability to search for specific food items by restaurant menu, by food type and even by supermarket or brand name.
If you want to enter a food item into your daily calorie journal, simply scan the barcode using your smart phone and retrieve the related the nutritional data. No more bringing a scale to a restaurant or calculating the calories in your head.
This app is easy enough for even the most non-tech weight watcher. Best of all, it is free!
Relaxation app
Did you ever think a gadget could help with stress and relaxation? More than 800,000 users have turned to an app called Relax Melodies for help with relaxation, yoga, concentration and sleep assistance available on
iTunes.
It includes a mix of 33 ambient sounds that the user can customize in any combination of

their choice as well as adjust the levels of the individual sounds. A timer feature is included for those that want to set the sounds to turn off at a certain time, such as when you fall asleep. This app can be used with medication and other self-improvement techniques that utilize background or white noise. Anyone who has difficulties concentrating or restless nights should look into this app. It has simple navigation and is offered for free.
It’s easy to fall in love with apps like these and kick off spring with a smooth and healthy start. They are easy-to-use, affordable and designed to make your busy, hectic life easier.
I’d love to know if anyone else has uncovered an app they can’t live without? Please share!
