Letter from Shannon Jones. Feel free to comment after the article and share your opinion on how the State of Ohio is helping or not helping create businesses! Your feedback is pivotal to the success of our sites! We want every resident of the Miami Valley to be able to read current news, events, and information. As well, VOICE their opinions.Dear Neighbor,
The latest job numbers are in and Ohio is continuing to set an example for other states to follow. In July, Ohioans created 11,000 new jobs and our unemployment rate remains a full percentage point lower than the national level.
Though our great state is on the road to recovery, the headwinds from Washington are strong and we still have plenty of work to do.
Ohio will have a special opportunity to share our story during next week's Republican National Convention. Both Governor John Kasich and U.S. Senator Rob Portman will deliver primetime speeches and I expect them to discuss how we've worked together to stabilize Ohio and create jobs.
You can tune in Tuesday evening at 8:30pm to watch Gov. Kasich speak or watch this page for more details about Senator Portman's speech on Wednesday evening.
Other Ohio leaders will be hosting special breakfast events with leading national speakers - you can visit this link to get the details about how you can tune in.
It's hard to believe that Election Day is only 75 days away but the outcome couldn't be more important. Ohio is on the path to recovery and new leadership in Washington will support our job-creating efforts here at home.
Warm personal regards,
Shannon Jones
Senate Majority Whip
Representing Ohio's 7th District
